To add more credit to Colorado's Big Bucks and show everyone, what we as hunters hope to see one day, even if it is a fleeting glance through the scrub oak and a story to tell at camp that night, I would like to show this picture from the San Angelo Standard Times showing our dad with the buck he took at Chromo, Colorado in 1958. The deer has never been officially scored, nonetheless, it is very impressive. The buck on the left in the picture labeled January 2000 was taken near Lake City, Colorado in 1963 or 1964 that was a 4 point with 34" spread straight across. It was never scored, either, but the taxidermist broke the horns while putting them on a placque. I have rough scored both bucks and each one should have made Boone & Crockett easily.

The Big One That Did Not Get Away
Old Road Canyon, New Mexico

Old Road Canyon (New Mexico Ranch): The Oldtimers say Henry Tunstill of the Lincoln County War was actually killed in this Canyon and one of the historians in the New Mexico magazine says Henry was killed just after lunch on his ride to Lincoln from his ranch on the Felix Creek, this would put him in Old Road Canyon as it is 8-10 miles from his old headquarters. Billy the Kid worked for him and this started the Lincoln County War when Billy tried to get revenge .
