*****Eldorado, Texas Update 2008*****

Update:

The Turkey Hunting Has Been Tough This Year With Lots Of Jakes Being Taken.  The Mature Birds Are Staying Away. The Turkey Have Been Tough Calling And We Are Not Sure If The Weather Has Helped Create This Or What.  This Has Been A Cold Spring For Us And We Had 26º F Only A Couple Of Days Ago. Hopefully, It Will Warm Up This Next Week And Things Will Change.

New!    ******Texas Whitetail Archery Hunts******   New!

We are planning something new this year as we have some whitetail country (approximately 5000 acres) that we are considering making an archery only deer hunting ranch. This would be the same services as our regular hunts but this year we will have a reduced rate for hunts at this ranch for $2000.00 for a 4 day hunt.

This ranch is mostly Live Oak, Shin Oak, Cedar, and Mesquite with ample cover for deer and turkey. We are on the western edge of the Texas Hill Country so we do have some rolling hills with a few shallow canyons and a large abundance of natural wildlife. We have lots of whitetail, turkey, and some exotics.

Note: We supply pickup and delivery to the airport in San Angelo, Texas for a flat fee of $100.00. It is a one hour drive to the ranch in Schleicher County from San Angelo. San Antonio, Texas is the nearest large airport and is 2 1/2 hours away. Anyone flying into San Antonio must supply their own transportation.

New Mexico  "Lincoln Canyon Ranch" Mule Deer Hunts on 14000 Acres of Private Land

2007 New Mexico Mule Deer Update:

We had an absolutely great year thanks to all the moisture early with one buck scoring nearly 190 and several in the Mid 170's.  Our widest buck was 28" with several over 24" with heavy horns.  All of the rifle mule deer hunters were very happy with their deer. Our archery rut hunters had great hunts and they took some outstanding heavy horned deer.

To add more credit to Colorado's Big Bucks and show everyone, what we as hunters hope to see one day, even if it is a fleeting glance through the scrub oak and a story to tell at camp that night, I would like to show this picture from the San Angelo Standard Times showing our dad with the buck he took at Chromo, Colorado in 1958. The deer has never been officially scored, nonetheless, it is very impressive. The buck on the left in the picture labeled January 2000 was taken near Lake City, Colorado in 1963 or 1964 that was a 4 point with 34" spread straight across. It was never scored, either, but the taxidermist broke the horns while putting them on a placque. I have the story for both bucks and hope to publish it in the near future. I have rough scored both bucks and each one should have made Boone & Crockett easily.

Old Road Canyon (New Mexico Ranch): The Oldtimers say Henry Tunstill of the Lincoln County War was actually killed in this Canyon and one of the historians in the New Mexico magazine says Henry was killed just after lunch on his ride to Lincoln from his ranch on the Felix Creek, this would put him in Old Road Canyon as it is 8-10 miles from his old headquarters. Billy the Kid worked for him and this started the Lincoln County War when Billy tried to get revenge .
